Mile High Club Unfortunately, it is not what I was hoping for, but two days of over a mile of vertical climbing must count for something. Today was a great day – I woke up positive and my body seemed to be pain free. Maybe yesterday had beaten out the nerve receptors in my body. We did a meagre 78 miles today, but apart from some rear end soreness the body feels good.
We did not heed Emily’s advice about France and Sunday nights, and now have a lack of suitable hostelry to eat at. Den and I showered and headed into town in the hope that we would find somewhere to eat. Each cafe/restaurant was firmly shut up and there was no sign of life. Even our hopes of finding a Tesco Extra or Quicky Mart were dashed. We returned to the campsite with empty stomachs.
Undaunted, we have constructed a makeshift meal, worthy of a Masterchef special from crisps, banana, peanuts and two bags of Haribo. To show our disgust at the lack of a proper meal, Den has vowed to enter the local town tomorrow and “eat all the food”. A warned they should heed.
Pretty mellow day tomorrow 85 miles as we head across the country.
