With only a few weeks to go till Den and I are off to France, I thought I had better start blogging about our adventure.
The lead up to this whole crazy idea started about three years ago when I was watching a cycling programme featuring Jeff Banks. He talked about a ride he had done across Europe to a shrine to cycling above Lake Como. I emailed him and he kindly forwarded his maps on to me.
It seemed such a long time away then and I really have only been training in earnest for about 9 months. I’ve religiously been covering the miles each weekend and now riding loaded up have been building up to greater distances. Today’s 76 miles was more of a struggle than it should have been as I stumbled across the Dorset Macmillan bike ride. Unfortunately, due to lots of other riders I stupidly didnt keep to a steady pace and “bonked” a bit at the end of the ride.
Never mind, a fish finger sandwich and plenty of chocolate digestives should put me right.
